Can I come with no experience?
Yes. Tell the coach that it is your first class. They will help you choose the right group, understand the basic rules and join the session safely.

You do not need previous experience for your first class. These simple guidelines will help you arrive prepared and start comfortably and safely.
A quick checklist for your first class
Arrive 15 minutes before your first class. Bring clean training clothes, water and slides for walking off the mats; remove jewellery and keep fingernails and toenails short. Tell the coach before class if you have an injury or feel unwell.
What should I wear?
Wear a clean, fitted athletic top with shorts or leggings that allow free movement. Avoid zips, buttons, metal parts and open pockets. Remove watches and jewellery before training.
Do I need a Gi?
It depends on the class. If the schedule says Gi, you will need a Gi; for No-Gi, wear a rashguard with suitable athletic shorts or leggings. Ask JGBJJ about uniform options before your first Gi class.
What should I bring?
Bring water, slides for walking off the mats and an optional small towel. Tie back long hair, keep fingernails and toenails short, and make sure your training clothes are freshly washed.
How early should I arrive?
For your first visit, arrive about 15 minutes before class. This leaves time to register, change, meet the coach and ask questions.
How long is the class?
The live schedule shows the exact start and finish time of every class. Open your selected class card to check its duration.
Can parents watch?
The viewing policy for children’s classes may depend on the group and available space. Confirm it with the JGBJJ administrator before your first visit.
